Danvers Library 2002 Summer Concert
Summer evening concerts are memories that are long cherished.
Children run and play, lovers sit on the lawn, parents run to buy soda and
ice-cream and the older folks bring a lawn chair to listen and remember when.
Danvers officials say,
"Best Concert of the Year!"
GBSO supplies the music for community picnics, church groups and local town weekly summer concerts. If your town does not have such a program, now is the time to start the ball rolling. Call your church leaders, civic organizations, park and recreation department and ask them to book GBSO.
Park Concerts generally run 2 hours and nearly always at a reduced rate. Local musician unions can work with you to help pay the musicians out of the "Music Performance Trust Fund".
A SPECIAL NOTE TO:
City Park & Recreation Directors
Even though state funding has been cut for the 2003 concert season you can still have your park concerts. The musician unions can help. Local businesses are willing to donate, as well as civic organizations.
Please do not allow the state to take away summer concerts in your town. But you need to start working on it now. There are towns that have never relied on the state to produce very successful summer concerts.
Danvers's community efforts have allowed them to build a fantastic gazebo and still sponsor concerts. Danvers has had very successful concerts for many many years and I can only imagine for many more to come.
Start planning now.
