Role of the Band Leader

His role is to put a band together that will play music on stage and will behave accordingly.

It is a major role of the band leader to choose musicians who can also adapt to the different environments and varying social contexts. From a pub to a TV show, from a wedding for royalty to a beach on the French Riviera... the codes of conduct are very diverse - something that makes our profession even more fascinating.

His role is universal. He deals with:
Management, PR, Marketing & publicity, recruiting, accounting, legalities, organization and scheduling of travel, sound equipment, engineering and lighting, and often is the musical director.

The band leader is usually one of the musicians in the band and the 'Executive Director' of the business... Very often handling each and every task outside the music, playing his part on stage as well as choosing the repertoire, organizing the rehearsals and searching for last minute replacements. He is responsible for the band that you hire.

He is the person you speak with to organize your event.
