Don Reed joined the band in January of 2003
on trombone. Don recently moved to the North Shore but had not played his
trombone for some time. We needed a substitute one day and someone gave me
Don's name and telephone number. I called and we had a great conversation
one afternoon. He had a great attitude. I felt no ego at all. It is one of
my requirements. If you have an attitude, leave it at home. Well, Don doesn't
and am I glad. I found out that he played with the Stan Kenton Orchestra and
made some of the finest recordings that Kenton ever issued. Not only is Don
a fine player and has no ego, he is one fine music arranger.
Well, needless to say, at the first opportunity I asked if he wanted to join the band. To my delight, he said yes.
Welcome aboard Don!
